How to reach Verona

Getting to Verona is easy and convenient

The city boasts an international airport and is well connected by highways and high-speed trains.

BY PLANE

As befits a truly international city, Verona has its own airport.

Valerio Catullo Verona Airport has direct flights from many destinations within Italy and abroad. 

Valerio Catullo Airport is the closest airport to Verona and it is located 12 km southwest of the city.

A shuttle bus service connects the Airport to Verona’s main railway station, Verona Porta Nuova. 

Alternative airports to Verona are:

  • Marco Polo Airport, Venice
  • Orio al Serio Airport, Bergamo
  • Linate and Malpensa Airports, Milan
  • Gabriele D’Annunzio Airport, Brescia

BY CAR

Verona is the meeting point of two of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) corridors and as such is easily reachable by car from a number of surrounding European countries.

The province of Verona is easily accessible thanks to two major motorways: the A4 Brescia–Padua, which runs east to west with convenient exits at Verona Est and Verona Sud, and the A22 Modena–Brenner, which connects the city from north to south with an exit at Verona Nord.

BY TRAIN

Verona Porta Nuova station is served by regional, high-speed and international services.

Domestic Connections: Trenitalia train services operate to destinations within Italy, such as Milan, Venice, Turin, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Trieste and Bolzano.

International connections: services by ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways), DB (Germany’s Deutsche Bahn), SBB-CFF-FFS (Swiss Federal Railways) operate to Verona Porta Nuova from european destinations such as Vienna, Munich, Innsbruck, Geneva (Geneve/Genf), Dijon and Paris (Paris Gare d’Est).

Trenitalia regional (R) trains also stop at a smaller station, Verona Porta Vescovo, to the east of Verona Porta Nuova.
